I have 8 years experience in RPG on the AS/400 and 20 years experience in data warehousing in Linux/UNIX. My first programming job was RPG on the S/34 in high school (part-time). I have a few utilities published in Midrange Computing magazine.
My AS/400 job experience was from the late 80s to late 90s. I know that sounds dated, but I rent time on an iSeries V7R1 at a site called TimeShare400 to update my skills. I’m refreshing my skills on RPG/IV (including RPG/FREE), CL, APIs, journaling, embedded SQL, ILE, interactive subfiles, IFS, SEU, HTTP Server (including CGI) and more. I can be productive programming on the AS/400 on day one.
While I love databases and data warehousing, I adore the AS/400. It’s my favorite platform. I did a lot of traveling for work over the last 20 years and would like a regular IT job again.
I have a passion for the AS/400 and a diverse background (in addition to the AS/400, I know Linux, C, C++, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and several relational databases). I can figure out how to do new things. My RPG code is clear and well-structured. I have a nice template for "work with" type interactive subfile programs. I know how to do web development.
