I have had the opportunity since 1991 to fulfill a number of staff augmentation roles on the AS400 and it's subsequent IBM brandings. My strength has been the ability to become "one of the staff" and learn and adapt to the task at hand. Every client has either asked me to become a full time employee or have had me back for a further engagement. Often times have been brought in for a short project and wound up with being extended.
I have worked remotely in 2011 and then again from 2013-2016 as a return engagement for the same client. Am currently working remotely for a client several hours per week.
I love to code and I love to solve problems. For example, a business user was having to manual create labels for each shipment. I was able to automate that process for him. Earth shattering? No. Happy business user, saving time and money? Yes.
