I've been on the AS/400 doing mostly COBOL with a smattering of RPG III in a variety of markets. I've been a Project Leader, mentor as well as analyst, coder, tester and implementor.
I've worked in Banking, Manufacturing, Warehouse and Distribution, Government and Transportation.
Among other accomplishments, I was able to significantly reduce nightly processing for Chemical Bank, created a 'word processing' template on the AS/400 for an insurance policy writing firm and more recently reduced abends, down time and improved the utility of a warehouse/distribution firm's entire application by streamlining CL drivers. Additionally, wrote a protocol for transmitting DDM files and produced ad hoc SQL generated reports.
My current assignment is at the New York City Housing Authority where I am supporting a payroll system by investigating errors, maintaining data and producing reports. I am also called upon to maintain some of the on-line applications as well.
Aside from support and development in an RPG III shop I've also converted RPG II to RPG III for Duty Free Shops.
