I’m a seasoned professional with over 29 years of IT experience in application analysis, database design and administration, programming implementation and disaster recovery for a variety of platforms. Much of the 29 years have been spent on the S/38, AS/400, iSeries & System i platforms. My experience includes industries in warehouse management, insurance and commercial mortgaging.
Although COBOL has been my primary language I do have extensive experience with several other languages including CL, SQL and some experience with RPG. I have excellent troubleshooting skills and have proven I possess the ability to enhance existing processes. I’ve demonstrated to several employers my abilities to improve, repair and modernize troubled systems and make them productively more efficient, which is reflected in savings of user man hours and understand how important business and work flow are to software efficiency.
My diverse background also allowed me to gain a thorough knowledge of AS/400 & iSeries operations and programming utilities, which include QUERY/400, SEU, SDA, RLU, DFU, Rational Developer and iSeries Navigator. I’m skilled with DDS and DDL file development and handling for physical files, logical/index files, printer files, display files, subfiles and database access. My skill set and experience has proven me to be the “go to” person, which enables me to lead and mentor junior (and not so junior) team members.
I played a major role in data migration for several projects and was also responsible for migrating to new iSeries hardware. This included installing the hardware, handling the connectivity and insuring full functionality.
