My Specialties

I have worked in RPG programming in many levels - on the System 38, System 36 and the AS/400 I love the As/400 and I am looking for a permanent position that will utilize my skills.

I started in 1985 at a Hospital (Brooklyn Jewish Hospital combined with St. Johns Hospital) they combined to form Interfaith Hospital systems. They were running on System 38 and in the absence of the MIS Directors (due to a minor Heart Attack) I effectively ran the I.T. department insuring Payroll was successfully run during his 3 month absence. This was located in a high crime area of Brooklyn, New York, and after 2 years I sought work in a better area.

So after after 2 years there in Brooklyn ( Bedford Stuyvesant area) I then went to Kimco - a leasing company of large shopping centers nationwide located in Roslyn NY, and programmed on a System 36 for a year. I enjoyed the office there and got along with my coworkers and the IT director, but wanted to get back to the system 38 or if possible the As/400. I was then offered to work on the AS/400 in 1988 - which was very early in the As/400 existence. That was at a British based company at a New York office. The company was called Colourall - they manufactured paints and linoleum and wallpaper products. They went back to England, unable to compete here with Armstrong Solarium and other textile manufacturers here in the states. I was still working for them when I received my next offer.

In August of 1989 I received a call from Saint Francis Hospital (Heart transplant center ) to come work for them. It was a direct call from the CIO. I was hired by the CIO without involvement of Human Resources and in a funny situation I then had to do an HR interview after I had already started and had been in the payroll system for almost 2 weeks .... The CIO ( Dave D'Auria ) was so intent on hiring me - he did so without HR involvement ! At Saint Francis Hospital I went from Programmer Analyst on the multiple As/400 environment and became Senior Analyst and then Manager of Application development. I was there for almost a decade.

During 1988-1993 I also concurrently worked as a Night Instructor for Grumman Data Systems - with a 5 year provisional teachers licencse from New York State University. I taught RPG programming - as well as IBM Mainframe system operations in adult education classes from 6pm - 10pm, 3 nights per week. Grumman is the manufacturing company of the Stealth Bomber.

I also worked for Henry Schein pharmaceuticals after that - As/400 environment .... After that my ex-wife convinced me to relocate to North Carolina and try starting my own business. In 2011 I decided to enter Law Enforcement and did so successfully until I had a minor injury to my left foot and decided to go back to consulting. During my Law Enforcement career, I was Police Academy President and was appointed to the Board of Advisors to the Head Sheriff in an agency of 500 Officers. Wherever I work - I give my all to achieve the most I can. In 2015 I decided to return to college for further education, and graduated with a Network Administration and Cyber Security 2 year degree, completed it in 2017 with a 3.96 GPA.

Main client:
2017 - Present - Alpaca Bella Fina Fashion LLC. Creating, modifying, and maintaining RPG and CLP based software on the AS/400 for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory management systems.
